What role does your recommendation letter play in your university application?  Among other benefits, recommendation letters help represent a more rounded profile of you as a university applicant. It provides you with an opportunity to offer insights to the admissions officers, from other individuals who know you well, to speak on your behalf and put in context what you are a like as a student and an individual.

Our guest speaker, Ms Linda King will be sharing insights and guidance on what factors do university admissions officers look for and consider important when they review recommendation letters. How to choose the best person to request your recommendation and the best strategies to approach them for a recommendation.

This webinar is suited for students in grades 11 & 12 but, as always, is open to all Rizers to attend.

Linda King

PrepU – USA

Linda King has been both a School and Mental Health Counselor, Administrator, and currently coaches students and parents with college admissions as well as health and wellness needs.

Ms. King teaches graduate courses at the College of St. Rose and is working with Rize Scholars students. She attended the University of Buffalo for mental health counseling, the University of Vermont for school leadership, Sage Graduate School for School Counseling, and also earned her BA in English Literature from Russell Sage College.

Ms. King resides in upstate New York with her rescue pups and cats and enjoys writing, traveling, the outdoors and spending time with friends and family.

Ms. Shah has worked in university admissions and advising at The American University of Dubai, UAE, The Illinois State University , USA and Oakton Community College, USA. She also has a Masters in Education- The University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign, Illinois USA. Her passion is to inspire students and help provide the support and access to resources to achieve their highest potentials and ambitions.
